The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday gave an ultimatum to four private medical colleges, asking the authorities of the colleges to submit necessary information including land registration in the next 15 days, or face legal actions.

The medical colleges are: Bangladesh Medical College, Popular Medical College, Uttara Adhunik Medical College and Uttara Women Medical College. All these medical colleges are situated in different areas of the capital city, Dhaka. The health ministry served notices to the colleges concerned following a decision, taken at a meeting on the private medical college policy, held at THE ministry on Sunday with Health Minister Mohammad Nasim in the chair.

The medical colleges were also cautioned that their academic activities would be suspended if they fail to follow the directives accordingly within the timeframe.

In the meeting, the health minister also asked the committee, headed by the director of medical education, to inspect activities and status of other private medical colleges and submit a report within 15 days.

The minister said the government would take necessary steps after getting the report to ensure discipline in health education.
