Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday vowed to build a "Sonar Bangla" as dreamt by Bangabandhu by fulfilling basic needs of the people.

"Our aim is to materialize the ideology of Bangabandhu by dedicating our life to the welfare of the people ... we would build Sonar Bangla by meeting basic needs of the people, Insha Allah" she said.

"We want that there won't be a single person to remain hungry and homeless, and lead an inhuman life ... it's the policy and politics of mine and Awami League," she added.

Sheikh Hasina, the president of Bangladesh Awami League, was addressing the second session of party's 20th National Council at Suhrawardhy Udyan here yesterday afternoon.

The premier said Bangabandhu "taught us the politics of doing welfare of the people and serving them and we want to follow that politics."

The AL president asked the party delegates and councillors who came to the capital to join the party council to prepare a list of homeless and penniless people living in their respective areas.

"Awami League is a big party and you keep information of your respective areas ... we want that information and we want to carry out our development activities accordingly," she said.

"We are giving that responsibility to you and we hope that we would get proper feedback from you," she said.

The Awami League president thanked the leaders of pro-liberation forces who attended today's party council and delivered speeches wishing success of the council.
