Housewife ‘commits suicide’ in Jessore

A housewife allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at Chandipur village of Monirampur upazila on Friday evening.

The deceased was identified as Jahanara Khatun Janu, 30, wife of Rafiqul Islam, a resident of the village.

Quoting locals, Mokarram Hossain, officer-in-charge of Monirampur Police Station, said that Janu locked into an altercation with Rafiqul in the morning over his second marriage.

In a huff with her husband, she committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her room, added the OC.

Victim's father Golam Mostafa filed an unnatural death case in this connection.
