PM joins iftar of armed forces

Bangladesh Armed Forces yesterday jointly hosted an iftar party in honour of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Sena Malancha in Dhaka Cantonment.

The prime minister went round different tables set for the members of the armed forces and other dignitaries, exchanged greetings with them and enquired about their well-being.

Before the iftar, a special munajat was offered seeking divine blessings for continued peace, progress and prosperity of the nation as well as the development and advancement of the armed forces.

Prayers were also offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other victims of the August 15 massacre, martyrs of the War of Liberation and martyred armed forces members.

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury, LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Engineer Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu, PM's Security Adviser Major General (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, Chief of Army Staff General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Haque, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Nizamuddin Ahmed, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Abu Esrar, Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division Lieutenant General Md Mahfuzur Rahman and the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps were present on the dais along with the prime minister.

Besides, Deputy Speaker Fazley Rabbi Mian and other ministers, PM's advisors, parliament members, politicians, ex-chiefs of the three services, diplomats and high civil and military officials were present.

Earlier on her arrival at Sena Malancha, the prime minister was received by PM's Security Adviser Maj Gen (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, the chiefs of the three services and the PSO of the Armed Forces Division.
