The girl, who was rescued from a hotel in Dhaka's Shyamoli on July 8 evening in a senseless state, has been declared dead by doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

She died around 7:30am at the hospital, Jamaluddin Mir, said officer-in-charge (OC) of Mohammadpur Police Station.

A doctor of the hospital on July 12 said that someone tried to kill her by strangling; during the process, her brain did not receive enough oxygen, leading to this senseless state.

She was kept under observation at neurosurgery department of DMCH where her physical condition remained unchanged and showed no sign of improvement since then.

Police tried to ascertain her identity by collecting her finger prints but they failed as she does not have any database, the OC said.

As there is no acquaintance around, the hospital authorities tried to provide the girl with better care on humanitarian grounds, DMCH doctors said.
