Woman held with 7,000 Yaba pills in Rajshahi

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested a woman along with 7,000 pieces of Yaba tablets at Mougachhi village in Charghat upazila in Rajshahi.

The detainee was identified as Sharmin Akter, 40, daughter of Selim Hossian of Chamta village in the upazila and wife of Shah Alam.

Tipped-off that a consignment of Yaba tablets was being smuggled, a RAB-5 team led by Major AM Ashraful Islam conducted a drive in Mougachhi Bridge area around 8:00 pm on Wednesday, said a press release.

During the drive, the RAB personnel arrested the woman from the spot and confiscated the consignment of 7,000 contraband pills, a mobile phone set and a SIM card from her.

She was handed over to Charghat Police Station at night after filing a case against her under Narcotics Control Act, Rab added.
