42 die, 3,114 test positive, 1,606 recover in 24 hours

Bangladesh recorded 42 coronavirus deaths over a 24-hour span on Friday, raising the death toll to 1,968.
The number of total COVID-19 patients also increased to 1,56,391, as over the same time the health authorities announced the discovery of 3,114 new cases across the world.
63 coronavirus research laboratories around the country have tested 14,650 samples in the last 24 hours.
The day-to-day infection rate was estimated at around 21.26 percent, while the mortality rate still hovers around 1.26 percent.
Additional Director-General of the Health Services Directorate (DGHS) Prof. Dr. Nasima Sultana revealed the announcement this afternoon at his daily health newsletter.
In the last 24 hours, 1,606 patients recovered from the diseases, taking the total number of recoveries in the country to 68,048. Against the total number of detected cases, the recovery rate is above 43.51 percent.
