Vegetables to be cultivated on 5800 hectares of land in Chuadanga

Chuadanga district agriculture extension department has fixed the target to bring 5,800 hectares of land under the ongoing vegetables cultivation programme in the current season in the district.
Under the programme, it has fixed to produce 87,000 tonnes of vegetables.
Chuadanga district agriculture extension department office source said vegetables will be cultivated on 2,350 hectares of land in Chuadanga Sadar upazila, 800 hectares in Alamdanga upazila, 1,000 hectares in Damurhuda upazila and 1,650 hectares in Jibannagar upazila.
In the last two months of the current season, a total of over 2,900 hectares of land has already been brought under vegetables cultivation and about 42,000 tonnes of vegetables were produced in the district.
The vegetables which are being cultivated in the district include balsam apple, bottle gourd, khira, asparagus bean, pumpkin, basil, bindweed, ladies finger and red leafs.
