Gulshan attack: suspect Shaon dies at DMCH

Zakir Hossain Shaon succumbed to his injures at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) today eight-days after he was detained in Gulshan cafe attack on the night of July 1 in the capital.
"Shaon breathed his last around 5.15 pm at the ICU (Intensive Care Unit)," ICU Chief of the hospital Professor Abdur Rahman told reporters.
Police detained him as critically injured from the area of the upscale Spanish cafe Holey Artisan Bakery after it came under militant attack claimed 20 lives of hostages including 17 foreigners and two cops. Shaon was admitted to the DMCH later.
In the next day, six militants were killed while 13 hostages, including three foreign nationals, were rescued from the restaurant as security forces wrapped up commando operation.
