'Bangladesh is a nursery of innovation'

Visiting British Minister of State for International Development (DFID) Rory Stewart has praised Bangladesh successes on the social and economic fronts and said the country has become a “nursery of innovation”.
He made the observation when he met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday at the Ganabhaban.
PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim later told reporters that they discussed bilateral issues including Bangladesh's development in the health and education sectors.
Hasina said Bangladesh has historically close relations with the UK and mentioned its continued assistance in the uplift of different sectors in the country, particularly health.
Stewart promised her continued assistance for further development of Bangladesh.
He said the UK government is also interested in further deepening business ties with Bangladesh.
The prime minister sought more British investment here, especially in economic zones.
She particularly mentioned the process of establishing 100 economic zones with all facilities throughout the country for further industrialisation and employment generation.
Prime Minister’s International Affairs Adviser Gowher Rizvi, PMO Secretary Suraiya Begum and British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Alison Blake were present during the meeting.
