Fire engulfs Gulshan DCC Market

The DCC Market at Gulshan-1 in Dhaka caught fire around 2:30am last night (early Tuesday). A portion of its kitchen market has collapsed in the devastating fire.

As many as 21 fire service units are working to put out the devastating fire. Fire service officials could not confirm the origin of the fire.

Dhaka (North) mayor Annisul Haq visited the spot. He said the fire may have originated from short circuit. 

There are about 1,500 shops in the market, said shop owners who expressed dissatisfaction over the fire service activities.
