The government has changed the number for the national toll-free helpline, which supports victims of violence, from 10921 to 109.
This service is open to everyone and is available 24/7.
The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs recently issued a gazette to make the changes.
The helpline has been set up to prevent violence against women and children, act against child marriage and prevent sexual harassment.
Started in June 2012, the helpline is maintained by the National Helpline Centre for Violence against Women and Children.
