Banani rape: Nayem Ashraf confessing at court

Key accused of the sensational Banani double rape, Nayem Ashraf is confessing his involvement in the crime before a judicial magistrate at court.
The investigation officer of the case produced Nayem, the last arrestee in this connection, before court today after completing a seven-day remand.
Our court correspondent reports, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Shikder was recording Nayem’s confessional statement at his chamber.
Arrested on May 17 from Munshiganj’s Lohajang, Nayem Ashraf alias Halim has confessed his involvement during primary questioning in detective custody.
Police said they found certainty of the rape incident from all the testimonials.
Two university girls alleged they were raped in The Raintree hotel, an upscale hotel in the capital’s posh Banani area, on March 28. They surfaced with the allegation much later.
Police have arrested five people so far – including the prime accused Ahmed Shafat, son of the owner of Apan Jewellers. Shafat has confessed his role before court.
