Bangladesh cabinet today congratulated three Bangladesh-origin candidates---Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, Rushanara Ali and Rupa Huq---for their re-election in the parliamentary polls of UK.
The congratulation came at the weekly cabinet meeting held at the Jatiya Sangshad Bhaban with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Briefing journalists later at the Secretariat, Cabinet Division Secretary (Coordination and Reforms) MN Ziaul Alam said the cabinet unanimously congratulated the three.
Tulip Siddiq, a granddaughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and niece of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was re-elected in the Hampstead and Kilburn constituency, Rupa Huq retained the Ealing Central and Acton seat, and Rushanara Ali secured a third consecutive victory in her safe Bethnal Green and Bow constituency in Bengali dominated East London.
The cabinet meeting also approved the draft of the Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute Act-2017.
It also approved a proposal to ratify the Second Amendment to the Asia-Pacific Trade Agreement (APTA).
