PM hosts iftar for eminent personalities, poets, artists

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday hosted an Iftar in honour of the country's eminent personalities, poets and writers, artistes as well as her family members and relatives at the lawn of her official Ganabhaban residence.

Arriving at the venue at 6:10 pm, the prime minister went round different tables set for the guests and exchanged pleasantries with them.

Before the Iftar, a special munajat was offered seeking peace, progress and prosperity of the nation.

Prayers were also offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other martyrs of the 15th August carnage as well as the long life and good health of the prime minister.

Pesh Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Mufti Maulana Mohiuddin Quashemi conducted the munajat.

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Awami League Presidium Member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, AL Advisory Council Member Kazi Akramuddin Ahmad, LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Engineer Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, State Minister for Post and Telecommunications Tarana Halim, Dr Hasan Mahmud, MP, Sheikh Helaluddin MP, Habib-e-Millat, MP, Noor-e-Alam Liton Chowdhury, MP, Kazi Rosy, MP, Sheikh Kabir Hossain, among others, joined the iftar.

Besides, Atorney General Advocate Mahbubey Alam, Professors Emeritus Dr Anisuzzaman and Dr Rafiqul Islam, Vice Chancellor of National University Prof Dr Harun-or-Rashid, Bangla Academy DG Shamsuzzaman Khan, noted actors Abdur Razzaque, Hasan Imam, Riaz and Shami Kaisar, eminent artist Hashem Khan, singers Kumar Biswajit, Samina Chowdhury and Fahmida Chowdhury, poet Ruby Rahman, Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim, Faridur Reza Sagar, Shykh Siraj, Nasiruddin Yusuf Bachchu, AL leader Advocate Afzal Hussain also joined the Iftar.
