Bangladesh’s first female justice to retire next month

The first and only one female justice of Appellate Division of Supreme Court (SC) Nazmun Ara Sultana will retire first week of next month.
According to SC website, Nazmun Ara will retire on July 7.
Besides, she was also first female justice of High Court.
She was born in Moulvibazar on July 8 in 1950. She is daughter of Abul Kashem Moinuddin.
She passed Secondary School Certificate (SSC) in 1965 from Mymensingh Vidyamoyee Government Girls High School, Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) in 1967 from Mymensing Muminunnesa Women’s College, BSC in 1969 from Mymensing Anandamohon College.
Nazmun Ara also passed LLB in 1972 from Momenshahi Law College in Mymensingh. Later she started her career at Mymensingh district court as lawyer.
In 1975, she passed Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS ) and joined as sub judge. She was appointed as additional justice in High Court on May 28 in 2000
She took oath as a first female justice of Appellate Division on February 23, 2011.
