A college student sued a young man for raping her at his house in the capital's Banani early yesterday.
In the case filed with Banani Police Station last night, the 21-year-old girl said she met the accused, Bahauddin Ivan, 28, on Facebook around 11 months ago, and they later started dating.
"Ivan called me around 9:00pm on Tuesday. He said it was his birthday and invited me to his Banani house on Road-2. He further said he wanted to introduce me to his mother and tell her about our relationship. A woman talked to me over the phone, introducing herself as his mother. I thought she really was his mother," the girl mentioned in the first information report (FIR).
She reached Ivan's house around 10:30pm.
"When I went there I saw no one at his house. He took me to his room. When I asked about his mother, he said his parents were unwell and they were asleep… I did not see any sign of a birthday party. I got scared and wanted to go back home but he did not let me go," she said.
The complainant further said Ivan then made her have dinner and some “drugs”. When she tried to resist, he assured her that the drugs wouldn't harm her.
"Around 1:30am, he raped me in his room… when I started screaming, he drove me out of his house but kept my handbag.
"The accused had also raped me earlier, making promises of marriage," the girl added.
Ali Akbar, sub-inspector of Banani Police Station, said the accused was absconding. Police were trying to arrest him.
Earlier on March 28, two university students were allegedly raped after they attended a birthday party at a Banani hotel. Police have pressed charges against five accused in the case.
