100 women artists’ works being displayed at BSA

A week long exhibition featuring the works of 100 women artists titled ‘Madhobilota’ is underway at Gallery No. 1 at National Art Gallery of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the city.
BSA and the University of Development Alternative (UODA) jointly organised the exhibition with the participation of present and former female students of the university’s Fine Arts department marking International Women’s Day celebration.
Present and former students of the UODA Fine Arts department are participating in the exhibition aiming at presenting success stories in their canvass for the visitors on their own style and perspective.
The exhibition began on March 6 with the inaugural ceremony held at the BSA’s National Art Gallery auditorium while it will end on March 12.
Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury was present as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony while State Minister for Women and Children’s Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki and former secretary of the Prime Minister's Office Suraiya Begum were present as the special guests.
Founder and President of UODA Professor Mujib Khan, and Chair of the UODA Fine Arts Department Professor Shahjahan Ahmed Bikash spoke at the opening ceremony with BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky in the chair.
Associate Professor Kaniz Sohani Islam of UODA is the convener of the exhibition.
The exhibition is open from 10am to 8pm.
