The court awarded the capital punishment to Sujan Kumar Das, Samir Dey and Jadu Ghosh.
The acting judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention special Tribunal-3 Begum Rokhsana Parvin passed the order Wednesday evening.
Only Sujan was present in the dock during the pronouncement of the verdict as two others - Somir Dey and Jodu Ghosh - are on the run.
Public prosecutor of the Tribunal Nazrul Islam said that readymade garment worker Panna Rani Das was gang-raped on 8 June 2011 in Moha Shashan area in south Chattogram.
Victim’s sister Chandana Rani Das filed a case after the incident. The trial started on 21 April 2013 and the court passed the order after taking testimony of 13 witnesses.
According to the case statement, the convicts called the victim - Panna Rani Das - over cell phone near Hari temple in South Kattoli area and killed her after rape.
Later, they 'cremated' the body by pouring kerosene on her.
Victim’s sister Chandana Rani Das said they are satisfied with the judgement and hoped that higher courts will uphold the decision.
