Girls of Dhaka University have come down to the streets in large numbers, in follow through of the agitation that sparked at female dorms last night, demanding a campus safe for students.
Wielding banners of respective halls and ‘Students Against Repression’, they paraded through campus this morning chanting slogans against imprisonment of university students and their unconditional release.
They were in opposing stand to another group demonstrating at the base of Raju Sculpture, wielding a banner of ‘General Students’, demanding an end to unrest at campus. They were saying, they want to walk away from agitation and go back to their education.
General students claimed, this group is being led by ruling party’s student front Chhatra League who charged on the students earlier this week, beating them up mercilessly – a trait that was quickly picked up by Chhatra League at other universities outside Dhaka.
