Teachers ‘beat up’ schoolgirl in Laxmipur

A female student was beaten up allegedly by the headmaster and an assistant teacher of a school in the municipal area on Monday afternoon for not paying coaching fees.
The victim Choya Moni was a student of class six of Balika Bidhya Niketon School in the area.
Headmaster Abul Hossain called Choya to his room in the afternoon and asked her to pay the coaching fees, said the victim’s family members.
As she failed to pay the fees, the headmaster along with assistant teacher Liton Chandra Debnath tortured her mentally and physically, leaving her injured.
Later, she was admitted to sadar hospital around 10:30 pm.
There are several injury marks on the victim’s body, said Dr Joynal Abedin, medical officer of the hospital.
Md Lokman Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said that they did not receive any complaint in this regard.
However, the headmaster denied the allegation.
