90 percent countrymen getting power: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said 90 percent countrymen are getting power in present time.
The Prime Minister said power generation cost now Tk 6.25 and selling price Tk 4.82 per kilowatt. We want to supply power in every house in country, she said. Solar Grid Line will be installed, the premier said.
She urged countrymen for less use of electricity for saving power. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee want to supply 1000 MW power. Besides, electricity will be importe from Nepal and Bhutan, the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister said this while inaugurating three-day National Power and Energy Week 2018 at International Convention City Bashundhara in the capital on Thursday.
Country’s total power generation capacity is now over 20,000MW which was only 4,942MW in 2009, the premier said.
Country’s access to electricity is now 92 percent which was just 47 percent in 2009, while the number of consumers is now over 30 million which was 10.8 million and per capita generation now stands at 464kwh, she said.
Besides, the government is importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) to meet natural gas demand now. Another 500mmcfd each will be imported in 2019 and 2020, the Prime Minister said.
