4 schoolgirls among 5 ‘raped’ in three districts

Five girls have allegedly been raped in Narayanganj, Thakurgaon and Habiganj districts.
In Narayanganj, police arrested three people for ‘raping’ three schoolgirls in three straight days in separate incidents at different places of Fatullah.
The arrestees are Monir Hossain, 45, of Delpara Towerpar, Mizanur Rahman, 19, of Katherpool in Sastapur and Tapos Chandra Saha, 40, a teacher of a coaching centre at Dapa Idrakpur area in Fatullah.
Officer-in-charge of Fatullah Model police station Manjur Quader said Monir picked up a Class-I girl who was playing on the road from Delpara Towerpar area on 19 October and took her to a chicken farm where he violated her.
Locals rescued the victim after hearing her screams while Monir managed to escape from the spot.
On 20 October, a 12-year-old girl and student of Class-VII was raped by one of her neighbours - Mizan who went to victim’s house at Katherpul when she was alone.
On 21 October, Tapas violated a Class-X girl after taking her to his house on the second floor of the coaching centre at Dapa Idrakpur.
Police arrested the three accused as three separate cases were filed over the incidents, the OC said.
In Thakurgaon, a student of Class-IX was allegedly raped by a youth - Moniram Paul, 24, son of Suren Chandra Paul in Baliadangi upazila in the district on Tuesday.
Officer-in-charge of Baliadangi police station ABM Sajedur Rahman said Moniram took the girl to an empty house at Boaldhar village and violated her.
The victim was referred to Thakurgaon General Hospital for better treatment as she suffered bleeding, he said.
Police also arrested Moniram.
In Habiganj, police arrested an imam of a mosque, Manik Miah, from Alapur village in Sayestaganj upazila on Monday afternoon on charge of raping a teenage girl.
Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station, said Manik forcibly took the girl to his bedroom and violated her there on Sunday night.
Hearing the screaming of the girl, family members rescued her and took her to Sadar Hospital.
Victim’s father Mahram Ali filed a case against the imam.
Meanwhile, Manik was sent to jail after he was produced before the senior judicial magistrate court on Tuesday, the OC added.
