Prime Minister opens Payra Thermal Power Plant Rehabilitation Project

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today inaugurated Payra Power Plant Rehabilitation Project at Kolapara in Patuakhali this afternoon and visited the power plant.
The premier opened the scheme named Swapner Thikana at a function on the power plant premises today (Saturday).
She also visited newly constructed houses for the people affected in project area and handed over keys and registration papers to the rehabilitated families.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated 21 other development projects in Payra.
The Premier will also build a nuclear power plants or nuclear power station in the area.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said it was dreamt of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman that every village will turn into urban area. Bangabandhu’s expectation was not only urban civilization but rural civilization.
By building Payra power plant, many families lost their land. We have built 130 homes to rehabiliate them. We have given the name of the rehabilitation centre ‘Sopner Thikana’, the Premier said.
We have made school, mosque, clinic, pond and many other development works in the rehabilitation center, she said.
By this power plant, many people will get job, unemployed problem will be solved and socioeconomic development will be improved.
After assuming power, we have been able to develop our country in 10 years.
The Prime Minister said we have got immense sea. We can earn by using this sea property. We have also plan to dredge our river so that we can earn by this river.
We will celebrate bangabandhu’s birth centenary in 2020 as poverty free Bangladesh. We have made digital Bangladesh. We also launched Bangabandhu Satellite-1 by which our socioeconomic development will be increased, she said.
