BNP itself responsible for polls debacle: PM Sheikh Hasina

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today again held BNP responsible for its absolute debacle in the December 30 national election.
“The BNP indulged in nomination trade and put its nominations on auction. Many competent BNP candidates who had good prospects of winning the polls were left out of the election,” Hasina said.
The people who indulged in nomination trade and put the nomination on auction then how they expect that people would vote for them, Hasina raised the question pointing finger at BNP’s acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman.
The party misappropriated orphans’ money, indulged in corruption and acts of terrorism including arson attack and thus people did not accept them in the December 30 national election.
Sheikh Hasina also president of the ruling Awami League came up with the allegation while addressing a programme at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh in Dhaka this afternoon.
The programme was organised on the occasion of the Homecoming Day of the architect of the country's independence and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Bangabandhu returned to independent Bangladesh via London and New Delhi on January 10 in 1972 after 290 days of captivity in a Pakistan jail.
