Two police officers have been withdrawn on charges of gang-raping a woman after keeping her confined to Saturia Dak-bungalow in Manikganj.
The action was taken against sub-inspector Sekandar Hossain and assistant sub-inspector Mazharul Islam of Saturia police station.
The victim lodged a written complaint with the police superintendent on Sunday.
As per the complaint, Sekandar took her to the Dak-bungalow when she came to the upazila headquarters along with another woman on Thursday afternoon.
He kept her confined to a room and forced her to take yaba pills.
Later, Sekandar and Mazharul raped her in turns and released her on Friday afternoon, threatening to kill her in crossfire if she disclosed the matter to anyone.
The victim said Sekandar was an acquaintance to her and she gave her Tk 150,000 three years ago to buy a piece of land. He went to the upazila headquarters to bring back the money.
SP Rifat Rahman Shamim said the two police officers were closed to the district police lines on Saturday following the compliant. "The victim filed a written complaint today (Sunday) and assistant police superintendent Hafizur Rahman has been tasked to investigate the allegation," he said, adding that further action will be taken against them following the probe report.
