Mentioning that 16 people, including madrasa principal SM Sirajuddoula and local Awami League leader Ruhul Amin, were involved in the killing of Nusrat Jahan Rafi, the PBI chief on Tuesday said they will press charges against them before the court on Wednesday.
Briefing reporters at its Dhanmondi headquarters, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Banaj Kumar Majumder said during long investigation, they found the involvement of 16 people in the arson attack on the madrasa girl that led to her death.
Of them, 12 gave confessional statements before the court, he said, adding that they sought highest punishment for the accused.
The PBI chief said a total of 92 people have been made witnesses in the case and seven of them have already testified before the court.
On April 6, Nusrat was set afire at an examination centre allegedly by people loyal to the principal of her madrasa after he was arrested and subsequently suspended as she had accused him of sexually harassing her in Sonagaziupazila of Feni district.
She lost her battle for life on April 10 at Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the capital.
