Another accused Rifat Farazi arrested over Rifat Sharif murder

The Barguna police arrested one of the key accused in Rifat Sharif murder in Barguna early hours of Wednesday a day after the main accused in the case was killed in a reported gunfight with police.

Rifat Farazi, 23, was the second on the list on the police’s First Information Report (FIR).

The police from the Barguna police station arrested around 2:30am on Wednesday.

The police presented Rifat Farazi at a press conference while briefing the reporters at the office of the Barguna police superintendent at 9:00am in the morning.

Barishal division’s deputy director general Shafiqul Islam and Barguna police superintendent Maruf Hossain were present among others in the press briefing. 

During the press briefing, the police told the media persons that Rifat Farazi was arrested last night following a seven-day drive to nab him. 

The police also said a total 10 persons have been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder. 

Earlier on Tuesday the main accused of Rifat Sharif murder Sabbir Ahmed alias Nayan Bond was killed in what police called a gunfight with them in Barguna's Burirchar.

The police have already arrested accused Hasan, 19, Oliullah, 22, and Ticktok Hridoy, 21. 

Five suspects including Nazmul Islam, 18, Sagar, 19, Tanveer and Kamrul Hasan alias Saimun, 21, were also arrested over the murder incident. 

The police are yet to reveal name of another suspect.
