RMG worker 'raped' in Chattogram

A female worker of a readymade garment factory was allegedly raped by miscreants in Anwara upazila of Chattogram last night.
The victim is now undergoing treatment at the Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), said Dulal Mahmud, officer-in-charge (OC) of Anwara Police Station.
The 20-year-old girl, also worker of a garment factory in Korean Export Procession Zone (KEPZ), was returning home in Chandanaish upazila on a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, said the OC.
She was raped in Kalabibir Dighi area of Bairagai union of the upazila around 8:30pm, said the police officials.
Quoting the victim, the OC said the auto-rickshaw driver took the girl to Kalabibir Dighi area on China Road instead of Chandanaish upazila along with two other passengers were on the auto-rickshaw.
After raping her, the alleged rapists dropped girl on the Chattogram-Anwara road, the OC said.
On information, the victim’s father and brother rushed to the spot and took her to Karnaphuli Upazila Health complex from where she was shifted to the CMCH.
The victim’s father lodged a complaint with the police station in this regard, said OC Dulal adding that law enforcers are trying to arrest the culprits.
