Taka 1,485 crore for land ministry proposed

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith today proposed Taka 1,485 crore, including development and on-development expenditures combined, for the Ministry of Land in the proposed national budget for the 2016-2017 fiscal year (FY).
The allocation in the proposed budget is Taka 2,442 crore is higher than that of last revised budget which was 1,043 crore.
Of the total amount, Taka 1072 crore was sanctioned in the non-development sector and Taka 413 crore in the development sector.
"We are continuing with various initiatives to modernize land management, survey and record keeping system to provide people-friendly land-related services," Muhith told the parliament while presenting the budget this afternoon.
He said a report containing digital zoning maps of 152 upazilas has already been prepared and in second phase, this programme has been extended to 301 more upazilas.
Referring to his previous budget speech, the minister said digitization of land related services would be completed in all upazilas by 2020.
