Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ engagement party on Saturday can be confirmed now. The American singer reached India on Friday night with his family and his fiancee was there to receive him.
Priyanka, however, managed to dodge the paparazzi yet again as she left in a different car. When Nick and Priyanka had come to India back in June to meet her mother Madhu Chopra they had covered their faces to avoid being photographed.
Nick’s parents, mother Denise and father Kevin Jonas Sr, were seen carrying a Tiffany & Co packet, supposed to be a gift for bride-to-be Priyanka. This is the first formal meeting between Priyanka and Nick’s families. Not pictured arriving in Mumbai were brothers Kevin, Joe and Frankie Jonas.
The couple got engaged in July after a whirlwind romance of two months. On Wednesday, Priyanka debuted her five-carat engagement ring as she was pictured with Raveena Tandon at a Manish Malhotra bash. Nick had famously closed down a Tiffany store in London to buy the perfect engagement ring for Priyanka.
On August 18, Priyanka is throwing a grand bash in Mumbai to celebrate her engagement. Bollywood’s who’s who are expected to be at the party. Nick’s brothers Kevin and Joe Jonas are also expected to be at the engagement party. According to reports, Nick and Priyanka will tie the knot soon after as they don’t want a long engagement.
Earlier, Priyanka had told People magazine about Nick’s maiden trip to India, “We’re getting to know each other and I think it was a great experience for him. That’s what he said. I think he really enjoyed it. It was really beautiful. He had a great time.”
While Priyanka had refused to comment on her engagement, Nick gave a low-key acceptance when he thanked a fan who congratulated him. Nick and Priyanka met at the Met Gala last year but a romance blossomed in May earlier when the two were seen spending time together in Los Angeles. Priyanka was also seen accompanying Nick to his cousin’s wedding and to concerts in Singapore and Brazil.
