Japan keen to invest in IT sector

Japan is keenly interested in a large scale investment in the IT sector of Bangladesh and it will send a delegation to Dhaka soon to discuss different aspects of IT investment.
Tokyo evinced the keen interest when State Minister for Internal and ICT Affairs of Japan Shimpel Matsushita held a meeting with visiting State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Wednesday, according to a message received here from Tokyo today.
Matsushita said a Japanese delegation will visit Dhaka to discuss possible IT investment sectors in Bangladesh.
Palak said Japan is a tested friend of Bangladesh and recalled the support of Japan government during the war of liberation of Bangladesh in 1971. Moreover, Japan is now one of the top investors in Bangladesh, he added.
He apprised Matsushita of different landmark initiatives taken by his government for building a "Digital Bangladesh".
Highlighting the 12 hi-tech parks including the Kaliakoir Hi-Tech park, Palak said the government has announced various lucrative incentive package including tax-holiday to attract both local and foreign investments in IT sector of Bangladesh.
Palak attended the Japan IT Week-2016, which began in Tokyo on May 6 and met with high-ups of Japan government as well as leading IT companies.
At a seminar titled "Enjoying demographic dividend to creative digital Bangladesh" held at Tokyo Big Sight, he made a power point presentation highlighting different emerging sides of Bangladesh economy.
