Modi tweets in Bangla to thank Hasina

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has thanked his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina for attending the summit at the western state of Goa.
"Honoured to host you PM Hasina for BRICS-BIMSTEC Outreach Summit. We cherish the strong ties between India & Bangladesh & applaud your role," he tweeted on Sunday.
The Biman Bangladesh aircraft carrying Hasina landed at Goa's naval base around 10:30am local time.
Modi posted separately in English and Bangla on the micro-blogging site immediately after Hasina's arrival.
The 8th BRICS summit that started on Saturday in Goa has brought together Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Brazilian President Michel Temer, South African President Jacob Zuma and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Leaders of BIMSTEC countries will now join the outreach meeting.
Apart from Hasina, others attending the summit are Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Maldives President Abdulla Yameen.
Hasina and Modi are scheduled for a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the summit.
