A married female teacher has been arrested amid claims she had sex with a 13-year-old student - and authorities say she may have done it with others.
Police are investigating after the boy's mother allegedly raised the alarm after reading explicit messages between her son and Brittany Zamora.
Zamora, 27, had been married to her childhood sweetheart for three years, and was arrested on Thursday, reports the Mirror.
The teacher, who worked at Las Brisas Academy in Goodyear, Arizona, is being investigated for alleged sexual misconduct with the teenager.
Police say they found text messages between Zamora and the boy ‘indicating sexual activity’, which allegedly happened both on and off campus.
The school district told 12 News in the US: ‘In the late evening of March 21, 2018, a parent at Las Brisas Academy reported an allegation involving a staff member and a student. We immediately reported the incident to local law enforcement.
‘The investigation is in its preliminary stages and as more information becomes available, we will update you.
‘While employee privacy law does not allow us to comment on the employee issues, we have taken the corrective steps to separate the students and staff member and have reported the incident to the Goodyear Police Department for investigation.
‘The safety of our students is our #1 priority. Transparency is equally important. We are fully cooperating with the Goodyear Police Department and will comment further at the appropriate time.’
Lisa Kutis, a spokesman for the Goodyear Police Department, told The Republic they are concerned about the possibility of more students involved with the teacher.
She told them: ‘The safety message here is parents need to be aware of their kids' activities on phones and social media and be aware of who they are in contact with.’
Asked about the chances of more students, she said they are still interviewing, and added: ‘That's part of our overall investigation. We're not ruling that out.’
Zamora's husband Daniel wrote details of how they met on a proposal website called howheasked.
The power station worker said: ‘Brittany and I met when we were 16 years old. We were walking into our first job interview and arrived at the building at the same time. We locked eyes shortly after.
‘Both distracted and mesmerized, we secretly kept staring at each other from across the room. Because of our instant connection, neither of us can remember what we said in the interview.
‘The good news is that we were both hired. We ended up in the same orientation and, as fate would have it, assigned seating had us sitting right next to each other. We started talking right away and began getting to know each other, sharing way too many laughs in the process!
‘In talking and sharing stories, we found so many wonderful qualities in one another and we immediately became best friends. We also found out that we were going to the same high school and, from there on, became inseparable. We took the same classes, passed notes and met each other for lunch.
‘It didn’t take long for a beautiful relationship to blossom. Filled with some of the best memories life has to offer, four years of high school and five years of working together flew by. I guess it’s true that time does fly when you’re having fun!’
