‘Govt. to increase beneficiaries of insolvent disabled allowance’

The government has a plan of increasing 25 percent the number of the existing beneficiaries in the sector of insolvent disabled allowance and raising the allowance to Taka 600 from Taka 500 in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2016-17.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also in-charge of Social Welfare Ministry, disclosed this in the Jatiya Sangsad today while replying to a question from treasury bench member Selina Jahan Lita.
"The government has allocated Taka 360 crore for 6 lakh insolvent disabled persons during the current FY 2015-2016," she said.
Sheikh Hasina told the House that a scheme titled "Insolvent Disabled Allowance" is being implemented through Social Welfare Department under the ministry.
Replying to another question from treasury bench member Sadhan Chandra Majumder of Naogaon, she said that males over 65 years and females over 62 years are getting elderly allowance in Naogaon like other districts of the country as per the set principles of the government.
"The government has also a plan to increase the number of beneficiaries and amount of allowance in this head in the fiscal year 2016-2017," the Prime Minister said.
