Speaker urges engineers to build hunger free nation

Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today called upon all engineers to work with the government to build a 'Golden Bangla' free from exploitation, discrimination, hunger and poverty.
"The country will be turned into a middle-income country by 2021 and a prosperous developed country by 2041. The engineers have to play a vital role to achieve the goal and build a 'Golden Bangla' free from exploitation, discrimination, hunger and poverty," she said
She was speaking as the chief guest at inaugural event of weeklong programmes organised by the Institution of Diploma Engineer's Bangladesh (IDEB) to mark the Peoples Engineering day and the 46th founding anniversary of IEDB at its auditorium in the city.
The slogan of the Day was 'Skills for future world of work'.The speaker said people in all strata of society, including the engineers, would have to continue efforts to build a society free from disparities.
She said Bangladesh is a role model in world in attaining UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The country would be successful achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), if all come forward for the development.
Earlier, IEDB organised a colorful rally.
IEDB President A K M A HAMID presided over the programme while IEDB General Secretary M Shamsur Rahman also spoke.
