PM goes to Sylhet today

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina goes to Sylhet today on a daylong visit to attend a number of programmes including flag-raising ceremony of the newly- established 11 Infantry Brigade under 17 Infantry Division of the Bangladesh Army there.
Prime Minister's Office sources said after arrival at Sylhet MAG Osmani International Airport by a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight in the morning, the premier will first offer Ziarat of mazar of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) at Dargah Mahalla of Ambarkhana in the city.
From there, she will go to Khadimnagar on the outskirts of the city and will offer ziarat of mazar of Hazrat Shahparan (RA).
Later, Sheikh Hasina will join the flag-raising ceremony of the newly-established 11 Infantry Brigade under 17 Infantry Division of the Bangladesh Army at Jalalabad Cantonment. The premier will return to Dhaka in the afternoon by a Biman flight.
She was supposed to address a public meeting to be organized by Sylhet District and City Units of Awami League at Sylhet Alia Madrasah ground in the afternoon, but she postponed the meeting by showing honour to the Election Commission.
The Election Commission on Nov 20 announced the schedule for district council polls to be held on December 28. As per the election code of conduct, no political party is allowed to hold a public meeting during the period.
"Honourable Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina has postponed Nov 23 meeting at Sylhet Alia Madrasah ground by showing honour to the Election Commission," AL Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua told BSS earlier.
