Speaker calls for women’s equal participation in nation building

Mentioning about the significant role educated mothers play in nation building, Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Saturday urged everyone to ensure equal participation of women in developing a poverty and discrimination free country. 

The speaker came up with the urge while speaking as the chief guest in a discussion on women’s role in developing education quality and family life organized at Chatra of Pirganj in the district. 

Mentioning that the half of the country’s population is women, Shirin said, it is high time to extend women empowerment through training and employment. 

“Women’s economic empowerment will work as catalyst in country’s growth. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, women will not lag behind”, she added. 

The speaker also urged everyone to be careful to ensure healthcare for mothers from their pregnancy time to their delivery. 

During the program, sewing machines were distributed among the women here. 

Upazila Executive Officer Kamal Kumar Ghosh, Pirganj Upazila Livestock officer Dr Md Masudar Rahman, Pirganj Upazila Women Affairs Officer Roksana Yeasmin and Dr Sufia Khatun were present on this occasion, among others.
