At least 128 Bangladeshi workers including 81 females, mostly domestic helps, returned home last night from Saudi Arabia after facing allegedly various forms of physical and mental abuses.
Three of the female domestic workers, who were aged below 20, were so traumatised and physically weak that they were immediately rushed to the Kurmitola General Hospital, authorities said.
The hospital authorities, however, referred the three to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
“One female returnee was unable to speak a word,” said an official of the Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET).
They returned by a Saudi Airlines flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 10:00pm.
The three sick workers were taken to the hospital under the supervision of BMET Probashi Kallyan Desk and BRAC Migration Programme.
According to BRAC Migration Programme, about 1500 female migrants returned from Saudi Arabia last year after facing physical and mental abuses.
The male migrants complained they had residency permits but Saudi police detained and deported them, said the BMET official.
