The condition of Sylhet college girl Khadija Begum Nargis, who was hacked by a Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), is remained unchanged.

Nothing would be said about her physical condition before 72 hours, said the physicians of the Square Hospital in Dhaka.

She had gone through a four-hour long second phase of operation from Tuesday noon to afternoon since admitting at the hospital on that morning. Now she has been kept on life support at the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU).

Dr. Mirza Nazim Uddin, consultant of Medicine and Clinical Care Department of Square Hospital, said, “Condition of Nargis is remained unchanged. She is in critical state as her condition hasn’t improved.”

When asked whether Nargis will be taken abroad for better treatment, he said that she is not in the condition to take abroad.

On Monday evening, Khadija Begum Nargis, 23, a student of Sylhet Government Mohila College and daughter of Masuk Miah, a resident of Hausa village in Sadar upazila, was hacked on her way home from college by Badrul Alam, the assistant secretary of SUST unit of BCL.

Hearing screams of the victim, locals rescued Khadija and caught Badrul from the spot and handed him over to police after giving him a good thrashing.
