Speaker leaves for New York

Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury left Dhaka for New York on Monday morning to join 56th Session of the Commission on Social Development at United Nations’ headquarters.
Dr Shirin is visiting the UN at the invitation of Economic and Social Commission for Asia & the Pacific (ESCAP).
During the visit, she will join a panel discussion on ‘Global review of the outcome of the Third review and appraisal of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (MIPAA), 2002’, said Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat handout.
Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat senior secretary Dr Md Abdur Rab Hawlader and senior officials saw her off at Shahjalal International Airport in the morning.
She will return home on February 6.
