Chumki stresses on global fund for women development

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki underscored the need for forging a global fund for development of the women.
The State Minister said this during the inauguration session of the second high level conference on Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC) held at Kenyan capital Nairobi on Monday, said a press release received here today.
'Women account half of the global population. So, sustainable development is impossible without the women', said the state minister.
Chumki said the present government is implementing 'inclusive development model' for development all the people including the women and the youth. The government would need the cooperation from the partners to ensure the development of the women, said Chumki in her address.
Bangladesh achieved the recognition as a development model for political and economic empowerment of the women under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said the state minister.
The GPEDC conference will conclude on December 1.
State Minister for Finance and Planning M A Mannan, former Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Abdul Matin Khasru MP, senior secretary of the Economic Relations Division (ERD) Mohammad Mesbahuddin, Planning Commission member Dr Shamsul Alam, Bangladesh Ambassador to Kenya Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Additional Secretary of the ERD Monwar Ahmed and Director General of the Directorate of Women Affairs Ms Shahin Ahmed Chowdhury, among others, joined the conference.
