Five women get 'Joyeeta Award' in Rajshahi

Five women get 'Joyeeta Award' as recognition of attaining their success in different fields after overcoming difficulties and challenges in the city yesterday.
The awards were given to the successful women Shirin Mahbuba, Urshi Mahfila Fateha, Hazera Khatun, Sharmin Begum and Anjuman Ara Parveen in five different categories like economic, education and employment, successful mother, prevention of repression and social development sectors in a function.
District Administration and District Women Affairs Office jointly organised the function at conference hall of Divisional Human Resources Development Training Centre.
Akhter Jahan, MP, addressed the meeting as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ataul Gani in the chair. Social Worker Shahin Akter Rainy, local unit chairman of Jatiya Mohila Sangstha Morjina Parveen and District Women Affairs Officer Shahnaj Begum also spoke.
Akhter Jahan said government has taken various initiatives to create women-friendly atmosphere in the country so that they can play an important role for country's socioeconomic development.
"Bangladesh has achieved tremendous success in women development and empowerment to become a model in the world," she said, adding that the womenfolk have proved their abilities, expertise and efficiency in every field of our national life.
The Joyeeta award will encourage women to face various challenges more confidently and become role models for the society, she hoped.
Joyeeta Onneshone Bangladesh a initiative introduced in 2009 by the government has had a tremendous impact on the society.
