Victory Festival of Bangladesh begins in Kolkata

The Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh in India will organize a five-day festival in Kolkata on the occasion of the victory day of Bangladesh.
The ‘Victory Festival of Bangladesh’ begins from Thursday at Netaji Indoor Stadium and it will continue till 19 December.
Paschimbanga chief minister Mamata Banerjee will attend the function as the chief guest while Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will be present as special guest on the occasion.
The main discussion on the importance of the Victory Day will be held on 16 December, said a University Grant Commission (UGC) release here yesterday.
UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan will deliver the keynote speech on this occasion.
Films made on Liberation War also will be screened during the festival. Traditional Bangladeshi saris including Jamdani, Tangail Tant and Rajshahi Silk will be put on display.
Besides, Jute, Jute products, handicrafts and other exportable goods will be exhibited in the festival.
