Enhancing skill of women entrepreneurs underscored

Enhancing skill development and expertise of women entrepreneurs can properly flourish their trade and business to accelerate the pace of development and strengthening national economy.

The observation came at the concluding ceremony of a five-day training workshop on 'Development of entrepreneurs in creating new businesses' held at hall room of Rangpur Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RWCCI) here on Thursday afternoon.

The RWCCI organised the workshop under the Development and Expansion of Women Entrepreneurship Programme with assistance of the SME Foundation and National Association of Small and Cottage Industries of Bangladesh (NASCIB).

Fifty female entrepreneurs took part in the workshop conducted by former Chief Faculty Member Manjurul Haque of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industry Corporation (BSCIC) Training Institute as the main resource person.

Deputy general manager of BSCIC, Rangpur Khairul Alma Almazi attended the ceremony and distributed certificates among the participants as chief guest with RWCCI President Anwara Ferdousi Poly in the chair.

Senior vice-president of NASCIB Zakir Hossain Saodagar, assistant manager of SME Foundation Abir Hossain, manager of Rangpur branch of National Bank Limited Murad Hossain Prodhan, senior vice-president of RWCCI Shahanaz Parveen, addressed among others.

The speakers said that the women entrepreneurs have been accelerating economic activities in every sector promoting women empowerment pushing the country toward a middle income nation.

They put special emphasis on increasing of information and communication technology (ICT)-based knowledge and skills of the women entrepreneurs to make them successful businesspersons in accelerating the pace of national development.

Zakir Hossain Saodagar said the present pro-people government led by Prime Minsiter Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly to develop women entrepreneurship for enhancing their involvements with trade, business and commerce.

In her concluding speech, Anwara Ferdousi Poly said the women
entrepreneurs could further flourish their trade, business and enterprises if their professional expertise and knowledge on information and communication technology were improved.
