Sound of an explosion has been heard as law enforcers resumed operation at two suspected militant hideouts in Genda area of Savar this morning.
The explosion was heard around 12:15pm after a bomb disposal unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) around 11:30am broke into a room of one of the suspected militant dens on the first floor of a six-storey building, reports our Savar correspondent.
“The SWAT team is also on the way,” said Assistant Superintendent of Savar Circle Police Mahbubur Rahman.
An ambulance also reached the spot while the law enforcers were evacuating the locals from the nearby houses.
Last night, the law enforcers cordoned off the six-storey building and a two-storey building in the area.
The law enforcers suspected that there might be explosive materials in a room of the six-storey building. Another room was found locked on the same floor where the bomb disposal team is working now, reports our correspondent this morning.
Earlier around 8:00pm last night, a team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of DMP raided a suspected militant den on the ground floor of a five-storey building in the area with assistance from Savar Model Police Station.
A woman and two children were rescued from the house, police said.
