Youth held in Narayanganj for killing minor girl after rape

Police arrested a young man from Nabiganj area in Bandar upazila of Narayanganj district on Sunday night for allegedly killing a minor girl after rape.

The arrestee is Raihan Kabir Sohag, 28, a worker of Knit Concern Garments of the area. 

The three-grader girl was abducted by Sohag from Godnail Arambag area in the Narayanganj city on January 23 last.

Sohag killed the minor after rape, said Md Sharfuddin, additional police super (Circle K), at a press briefing on Monday.

The victim’s father filed a general diary with Siddhirganj Police Station on January 24 in this connection.

Later, police recovered the body of the victim from Kaikartek Bridge area in Sonargaon upazila of the district on January 26 last. 

In primary interrogation, Sohag confessed to the police that he killed the victim after rape. 

In Savar of Dhaka, police recovered the body an unidentified teenage girl from a field in Ghosbag area under Ashulia Police Station on Monday noon.

On information, a team of police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy, said Alim Hossain, sub-inspector of the police station.

Police suspected that miscreants killed the teenage girl after rape and dumped the body at the field. 

Several injury marks were found on the head of the victim, the SI added.

A team of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) already visited the spot and collected the evidence, said Monir Hossain, PBI Inspector.
