Khulna City Corporation mayor, councilors take oath

Newly elected mayor of Khulna City Corporation Talukder Abdul Khalek took oath of office on Thursday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina administered the oath at a ceremony held at Shapla Hall of her office.
Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain and State minister for Rural Development and Co-operatives Division Md Mashiur Rahman Ranga were present.
Local Government Division Senior Secretary Dr Zafar Ahmed Khan conducted the oath-taking ceremony.
Later, the newly elected 31 councillors of general wards and 10 female councillors of the reserved seats of Khulna City Corporation were also sworn in at the same venue.
LGRD and Co-operatives Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain administered the oath to the councillors.
Awami League mayoral candidate Talukder Abdul Khalek was elected in the Khulna City Corporation (KCC) election held on May 15 last.
Khalek won the election with a big margin defeating his nearest rival BNP contestant Nazurl Islam Manju.
