Speaker pays tribute to Bangabandhu

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Saturday paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as she has been elected MP in the recent parliamentary elections.
She showed the deepest respect by placing wreaths to the portrait of the Father of the Nation at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in the city’s Dhanmondi area, said a Parliament Secretariat release.
Dr Shirin, who was elected from Rangpur-6 constituency (Pirganj) with Awami League’s ticket in the December-30 general election, stood in solemn silence there for a while.
Later, Deputy Speaker Md Fazle Rabbi Miah placed wreaths to the portrait of the Father of the Nation as a mark of respect to the architect of the country’s independence.
Fazle Rabbi was elected MP from Gaibandha-5 being nominated by Awami League.
