Jaya starrer 'Ek Je Chhilo Raja' wins India's national award

After 'Bisorjon', Jaya Ahsan starrer 'Ek Je Chhilo Raja' has won an Indian national award for regional films.
Jaya balances her work both in Bangladesh and India. The actress starrer Indian Bangla film, 'Bisorjon', received the same honour in 2017.
However, the winners of India's 66th National Film Awards were announced on Friday with the best film award going to Hindi film 'Padman' and Srijit Mukherji’s 'Ek Je Chhilo Raja' bagged National Film Award for Best Bengali Regional Film.
The film stars Jisshu Sengupta, Jaya Ahsan, Aparna Sen, Anirban Bhattacharya, Anjan Dutt, Rudranil Ghosh, and Sreenanda Shankar. Released in 2018, the film was the official selection at many film festivals.
The film is all about Mahendra Kumar Choudhuri, the prince of the Bhawal Estate, is taken to Darjeeling for treatment by his relatives where he dies. Years later, a sannyasi shows up claiming to be the lost prince. And how he struggles to prove his identity is the centre of the film.
IANS reports, Ayushmann Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal jointly received the Best Actor Award for their performances in 'Andhadhun' and 'Uri: The Surgical Strike'.
'Badhaai Ho' bagged awards for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Supporting Actress (Surekha Sikri).
'Padmaavat' won big, especially in the music categories. It bagged awards for Best Male Playback Singer (Arijit Singh for the song 'Binte dil misriya mein'), Best Music Direction Music Director (Songs): Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Best Choreography (Kruti Mahesh Madya and Jyoti Tomar for the song 'Ghoomar').
As for other top honours, Gujarati film 'Hellaro' was announced Best Feature Film winner, Keerthy Suresh was declared winner of Best Actress trophy for her performance in Telugu movie 'Mahanati'.
